Web accelerators – Memcached, NodeJS and Varnish added to Lonex Control Panel

The Lonex Web Hosting Control Panel now features a set of web accelerators – tools that can help improve your overall sites’ performance. Here are a few words about each:

NodeJS – a platform built on Chrome’s JavaScript runtime for easily building fast, scalable network applications. It uses an event-driven, non-blocking I/O model that makes it perfect for data-intensive real-time applications.

Memcached – a high-performance object caching system, allowing you to take memory from parts of your system where you have more than you need and make it accessible to areas where you have less than you need. Memcached comes with 16 MB, more memory is available as an upgrade.

Varnish – a web application accelerator, which speeds up delivery with a factor of 300 – 1000x, depending on your architecture. One of the key features of Varnish is the flexibility of its configuration language, VCL, which enables you to write policies on how incoming requests should be handled. Varnish comes with 16 MB, more is available as an upgrade.

You can find the web accelerators as upgrades in the Advanced section of the Lonex Control Panel. The Corporate plan comes with Varnish included for free, and the Enterprise – with Varnish and Memcached.

Node.js, Varnish and Memcached are also available for all semi-dedicated and dedicated servers, without the need for any upgrades. With dedicated servers, Varnish and Memcached can each use up to 3, 7 or 15 GB of RAM with the Optima, Astra and Xenia dedicated servers, respectively.

The web accelerators are also included by default with all semi-dedicated servers where the allowed memory quota is 64 MB, and with all dedicated servers, where Varnish and Memcached can each use up to 3, 7 or 15 GB of RAM, depending on the chosen dedicated server.
