Protect sensitive data on all subdomains under a site with a Wildcard SSL certificate

For those of you managing large websites, we have added Wildcard SSL certificates to our Control Panel.

Wildcard SSL certificates work just like regular SSLs to encrypt the connection between a visitor and a site and protect sensitive information like login details or credit card numbers. The main difference between the two types of SSLs is that Wildcard certificates can secure all subdomains under your main domain.

For example, if you have a large portal with a web store and a discussion board:

  • my-site-name.com
  • discuss.my-site-name.com
  • store.my-site-name.com

With a Wildcard SSL certificate on, you can secure all of these subdomains without needing to buy an individual certificate for each. Also, once activated, this certificate will be active for all future subdomains that you add.

To get a Wildcard SSL certificate for your site – please go to the SSL certificates section under My Domains in your web hosting Control Panel.
